South Central Indiana REMC (SCI REMC) is seeking candidates for a key leadership position in the Fiber Division for the Manager, Network Engineering. SCI REMC is one of the largest not-for-profit electric and fiber distribution cooperative in Indiana and a leader in innovative technology. The cooperative focuses on providing safe, reliable, cost-effective electricity and fiber solutions to its members in seven counties in south central Indiana.

The Fiber Division of SCI REMC offers high-speed, quality broadband services to over 12,000 subscribers in homes and businesses plus fiber transport systems to ensure a reliable network service with a high level of member/subscriber experience satisfaction.

The cooperative is headquartered in Martinsville, Indiana located just 30 minutes south of Indianapolis airport and 20 minutes north of Bloomington Indiana off I-69. SCI REMC serves over 3,646 miles of energized lines. SCI REMC has 150 highly valued, member/subscriber-focused employees.

This is a key position. The best candidates for Manager, Network Engineering will be a mentoring leader, have strong initiative, solid technical skills, a drive for detail with strong analytic skills and a collaborative team player.

Key Position’s Responsibilities
  • Managing and mentoring the Fiber Network Engineering personnel. Preparing and maintaining capital and O&M budgets related to fiber network engineering and eService Technicians construction activities.
  • Being the subject matter expert to lead the designing, implementing, and maintenance of the network services and systems including the hardware and software supporting data and voice communications services.
  • Researching and implementing best practices in networking to provide optimum data and voice services to SCI Fiber subscribers.
  • Developing, planning, and engineering FTTx/ Fiber Transport systems including the hardware, software, and overseeing equipment, programs, and services vital in maintaining the delivery of quality broadband service, while overseeing engineering and technical support for the Fiber Division to achieve reliable network service and a high level of member/subscriber experience satisfaction.
  • Overseeing day-to-day operations and utilizes the company’s communication network to provide data, voice, video, and other services to member/subscribers, as well as the back-office networking required for administrative support.
  • Actively and consistently supporting all efforts to simplify and enhance the member/subscriber experience.
  • Collaborating with various Co-ops, Service Providers, and coworkers for service order processing, billing, network capacity, and network operation.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor of Computer Technology, Information Systems, Electronic Engineering, relevant technical fields and/or equivalent experience and training. Professional level certifications, such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP or equivalent is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of ten plus years’ experience related to managing, planning, architecture, and operation of a Service Provider Internet core and Ethernet transport network.
