Physical Therapy Assistant

Physical Therapist Assistant at Indiana Fitness Works in Portland, Indiana at Persimmon Ridge. Requirements:

• Graduate from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program. The program must be accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association.
• Display evidence of interest in continuing education within the profession.
• PTA reports directly to immediate supervisory PT.

• Lift up to 10 lbs overhead occasionally.
• Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to knuckle occasionally.
• Lift up to 25 lbs from knuckle to shoulder occasionally.
• Pivot transfer up to 150 lbs occasionally.
• Carry up to 50 lbs, 200 ft frequently.
• Push/pull 75 lbs, 100 ft frequently.
• Fine hand manipulation, bilaterally continuously.
• Heavy grasp, bilaterally frequently.
• Visual acuity connected to 20/20.
• Tactile discrimination.
• Stand up to 2 hours frequently.
• Comprehensible verbal communication skills continuously.
• Drive up to 2 hours.
• Legible written communication continuously.
• Squat, stoop, or kneel up to 15 minutes occasionally.
• Sit up to 2 hours occasionally.

Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and medical preparations.

• Conduct treatment plans as established by PT under supervision of PT.
• Communicate with PT, rehab team members, and/or referring physician regarding patients treatment program.
• Maintain weekly (objective) progress notes, following documentation guidelines.
• Maintain accurate daily attendance records.
• Complete daily time logs, modality sheets, Medicare logs, change slips and any other required paperwork.
• Supervise supportive staff in clerical and transporting duties as assigned.
• Must follow all established policies and procedures of the company.
• Communicate the Physical Therapist's designed plan of care to physician. The assistant will also take a telephone order from the physician to certify that plan of care or change the plan of care. The telephone order will then be co-signed by the supervising therapist.
