Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department and monitor all established quality assurance standards. • Grocery Clerk helps customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
• Inform customers of food specials and recommend grocery items to ensure they get the products they want and need.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness; review "sell by" dates and take appropriate action.
• Provide customers with fresh and non-perishable grocery products that they have ordered.
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines; maintain proper temperatures and temperature logs.
• Maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and assist customers with questions and suggestions.
• Create an inviting environment and respond to questions regarding products sold within the department and store.
• Reinforce safety programs and identify unsafe conditions; notify management.
• Inspect equipment and notify management of repairs; assist with preventive maintenance.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment; manage conflicts constructively.
• Demonstrate honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information; follow directions and seek assistance as needed.
• Provide support and assistance with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
