Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department and monitor all established quality assurance standards. Responsibilities- Grocery Clerk helps customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
- Inform customers of food specials and recommend grocery items to ensure they get the products they want and need.
- Check product quality to ensure freshness; review "sell by" dates and take appropriate action.
- Provide customers with fresh and non-perishable grocery products that they have ordered.
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
- Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines; maintain proper temperatures and temperature logs.
- Maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and assist customers with questions and suggestions.
- Create an inviting environment and respond to questions regarding products sold within the department and store.
- Reinforce safety programs and identify unsafe conditions; notify management.
- Inspect equipment and notify management of repairs; assist with preventive maintenance.
- Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
- Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment; manage conflicts constructively.
- Demonstrate honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information; follow directions and seek assistance as needed.
- Provide support and assistance with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.

- Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)
