Registered Dental Hygienist
Martinsville, VA
Part-Time position
Monday-8-5, Wednesday-8-5, Friday

• Evaluate the patient's oral health status and requirements through screening protocols, including medical history assessment, dental charting, and periodontal charting.
• Provide hands‑on patient care according to standard dental hygiene protocols.
• Measure and document patient vital signs.
• Carry out standard procedures such as prophylaxis and polishing.
• Obtain diagnostic radiographs as needed by the dentist for treatment planning. Administer sealants and fluoride treatments.
• Maintain electronic patient documentation.
• Record the patient's dental background and primary concern. Note and communicate relevant clinical findings.
• Educate patients on avoiding caries and periodontal issues via nutrition and effective home oral hygiene.
• Clean and sterilize dental instruments.
• Prepare the treatment plan as directed by the dentist. Discuss the treatment plan and related costs with the patient.
• Clearly convey patient issues to the dentist. Serve as the main treatment coordinator.
• Perform additional tasks as required.

• Must be dependable.
• Graduate of an accredited dental hygiene certificate or associate degree program with an active Virginia hygienist license

• Capable of independent decision‑making and sound judgment.
• Able to develop, influence, interpret, and/or apply operational procedures. Demonstrates a collaborative approach to duties.
• Exhibits initiative, reliability, and timeliness. Handles frequent repetitive tasks with precision and detail. Adapts to varied assignments with a positive attitude.
• Follows directions and accepts accountability for personal performance. Maintains strict patient confidentiality.
• Comprehends documents including safety guidelines, procedure manuals, and written communication. Understands instructions delivered in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule formats.
