Public Accounting Recruiter | Tax & Audit | DC, Maryland & VirginiaThis is a local CPA firm with an office in Edgewater and another in Annapolis. The Edgewater office is around 10 people, and they really do look out for each other. No grand speeches about culture, just a place where people like coming in and backing each other when it matters.
They are looking for a Senior Manager who wants to be in the office day to day. Not because anyone is checking seats, but because collaboration actually works better that way. For most people locally, it is a 15 to 20 minute commute, the kind that doesn't drain you before the day even starts.
This is a proper 360 role. You would take jobs from start to finish, review returns, handle complex client work, and be a key point of contact for business owners. There is an accounting element too. Reviewing Quick Books, making sure the numbers make sense, and seeing the full picture rather than just your slice of it. You would also support and guide staff, some admin comes with seniority, but you are not buried in nonsense.
The clients are what you would expect in a strong local practice. Small businesses, individuals, real estate rentals, construction, and other closely held businesses. Staff prep the work, you review, advise, consult, and take the calls that actually matter.
You will need to be a CPA and able to sign returns. More importantly, you need to be someone who can own relationships and enjoy being relied on. This role sits just below the partners, effectively number 2 or 3 in the office, working closely with them. There is also another principal focused on wealth management, which is continuing to grow.
Hours are refreshingly sensible. The working day is 9 to 5:30. In June, July, and half of August, the office is closed on Fridays. During tax season, the hours can be more intense for a few weeks, but last year they worked only 2 Saturdays. If you are caught up, you are not expected to perform the theatre of looking busy.
Benefits include 401k, vacation, and the firm pays 100% of health insurance for the employee. Salary is flexible and will reflect experience.
Here is the part most ads quietly tuck away. Depending on where you want to take your career, there is a genuine path to equity and partnership. One of the current partners grew up in large firms and has been very deliberate about building something better, without wearing burnout as a badge of honour.
