Reception Volunteer

Join our friendly team at St Michael’s Hospice and be the welcoming face that makes a difference. As a Reception Volunteer, you’ll support the smooth running of our front‑of‑house services—helping patients, visitors, and staff feel supported and informed from the moment they arrive.

We’re looking for warm, reliable individuals who enjoy helping others and can bring calm and clarity to a busy environment.

  Monday–Friday and Weekends

  • Thursday: 9am–1pm
  • Saturday: 4pm–7pm
  • Sunday: 4pm and 4pm–7pm

  Applicants for evening or weekend shifts must be available for training during daytime hours.
  Applicants must be aged 18 or over to apply for this role.

• Offering a warm welcome to patients and visitors
• Answering calls and passing on messages
• Checking appointments and patient details (confidentially)
• Supporting infection control and general safety
• Handling post, parcels, and donations
• Helping with light admin tasks
• Keeping the reception area tidy and organised
• Working closely with staff and volunteers to ensure things run smoothly

• Friendly and clear communicator
• Comfortable using basic IT (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams)
• Able to work independently and with others
• Reliable and punctual
  
  Experience in admin or customer service is helpful but not essential
• Aware of the importance of confidentiality

• Kind, calm, and emotionally aware
• Open to learning and feedback
• Respectful of boundaries and professional conduct
• Flexible and happy to help where needed
