Summary

Anchor Construction Corporation is experiencing significant growth and has an immediate opening for a full-time Estimator. The person that fills this position will be a key member of the high-performing Estimating Team. The Estimator is responsible for the successful bidding and winning of water, storm, sewer, wastewater treatment plant, duct bank, asphalt, bridge, concrete, and other similar civil projects. Estimators are responsible for the bid process from start to finish with minor oversight.

Successful candidates for this role have the desire to be a leader and advance in their career, work well with and mentor others, and carry a sense of urgency coupled with high attention to detail.

Primary

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist in monitoring "Estimating" email and other bid invitation platforms to collect the best possible opportunities
  • Review project scope requirements and understand bid formats.
  • Walk potential jobs as needed to get an accurate view of the project.
  • Perform quantity take-offs on Excel and/or takeoff software
  • Build estimates in HCSS Heavy Bid, or an equivalent estimating software.
  • Find and negotiate with qualified subcontractors and vendors that fit the needs of the projects
  • Write effective proposals, follow up with private clients.
  • Negotiate scope of work with private clients.
  • Presentation of bid status reports at weekly overview meeting.
  • Other duties as warranted
Required Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a relevant field
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of relevant progressively responsible experience
  • 1-2 years observing actual underground utility conduit field work as a PE/PM/Super.
  • Experience in utilities, infrastructure, and heavy construction work including but not limited to: wastewater treatment plants, structured concrete, storm drains, asphalt, and paving.
  • Good written and oral communication skills and attention to detail
  • Negotiation skills
  • Ability to develop strong customer relations using a "customer first" attitude, with both customers and vendors
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.
  • A proven "self-starter" that works with limited oversight and direction.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed, and perform duties assigned by supervisor.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and is able to create schedules with MS Project
  • Strong mathematical aptitude and abilities.
  • Basic understanding of estimates, budgets, and job costing.
Physical Demands

Light

Lifting up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as plans, specifications, and files. Walking and standing are required only occasionally.

Work Environment

Moderate

Occasionally exposed to extreme atmospheric conditions (temperature, noise fumes, dust, etc.)

Pay Range

$75,000 - $100,000
