A collaborative residency for a UK-based writer at any stage of their career who is writing a new piece of work for theatre.
Residency Dates: Mon 18 May – 14 June 2026.
Accommodation and Stipend: Private use of the Tower Studio, on-site accommodation in one of the cosy Hobbit Pods, and a weekly stipend of £350.
Development Week: At the conclusion of the residency on their campus, you will receive a development week with Summerhall Arts in Edinburgh between Sun 14–Sun 21 June 2026. Summerhall Arts will provide a £1,000 fee to support your week and allow the engagement of collaborators.
Eligibility: UK-based writer at any stage of career writing new theatre work.
Responsibilities:
- Write a new theatre piece during the residency.
- Collaborate with mentors Dr James Fox and the Summerhall Arts team.
- Work on developing the piece through the development week.
Qualifications:
- Experience in writing for theatre (any level).
- Ability to commit to the residency schedule.
Final date to receive applications: 18 January 2026. Decision by 30 January 2026.
