SUMMARY:
The Rosenbloom Owings Mills JCC Children’s Theatre Production Company (CTPC) is seeking Production Assistants for the upcoming CTPC productions of Jungle Book Kids and Newsies Jr. Production assistants are eager to help to the best of their ability with every aspect of rehearsal, tech, and shows—helping onstage and backstage to ensure the professional quality and flow of every rehearsal, technical rehearsal, and performance.
Under the supervision of the Director of Youth Arts Education, the ideal candidate is prepared to be a role model to their team and children alike, has a can-do demeanor, has experience and loves working with children, and has experience in or avid appreciation for the performing arts. They must have Sunday afternoon and Monday evening availability.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Production assistants supervise students and keep them on schedule, entertained, and safe in rehearsals. This includes but is not limited to: gathering children at the start of rehearsal and dismissal of students; setting up, breaking down, and cleaning the rehearsal space(s); helping children navigate rehearsals and assisting the director with redirection and maintaining discipline; effectively communicating with the teaching artist(s) to help find quick solutions when necessary;
escorting children to the washroom when needed; and other duties as directed. - Production assistants must be eager to help to the best of their ability with every aspect of backstage to ensure the professional quality and flow of the production for both technical rehearsals and shows. This includes but is not limited to safely maneuvering set pieces; setting up, breaking down, and cleaning prop tables; helping children navigate walk-ways, costume and/or wig changes, and the order of show;
effectively communicating with other production assistants to find quick solutions when necessary; and other duties as directed. - Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for students and staff.
- Represent with professionalism the Arts & Culture Department when interacting with parents or community members.
- Participate in other JCC Arts & Culture events as needed.
- Participate in training, staff meetings, and special events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Staff must adhere to CTPC Policies as outlined below.
Production assistants are expected at all rehearsals (technical rehearsals included) and performance dates listed below. All production assistants are obligated to participate in strike and strike typically occurs directly after the conclusion of the closing performance. Production assistants must attend at least one training to review backstage performance assignments with the director and/or assistant director.
Center for Arts & Culture Enrichment Policies:
- Staff agree to wear appropriate clothing and shoes. The dress code is all black clothing with close-toed (preferably dark colored) tennis or appropriate to class dance shoes (ie ballet shoes for ballet, jazz shoes for hip hop or jazz, etc.).
- All people 16 years or older must present a PHOTO access the JCC campus.
