long-term substitute teacher, special education
position available tentatively from october 1, 2025. Daily work hours: tuesday, wednesday and thursday – 8:45 to 4:15 (tue/thu) and 8:45 to 12:15 (wed). Hourly wage: $24.16 per hour.
key responsibilities- provide instruction and lesson planning for students with special education needs.
- create a conducive learning environment and manage classroom time.
- use a variety of teaching techniques and instructional resources to implement approved curriculum.
- use evaluation to promote student growth intellectually, physically, socially, and emotionally.
- maintain consistent, fair behavior and promote self-discipline among students.
- communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and community.
- guide learning toward school system goals by following policies and procedures.
- assist administration and staff in achieving the school's mission.
- strive for continuous professional development.
- supervise students in various school settings.
- maintain appropriate records and care of equipment and materials.
- maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- associate’s degree or 60 college credits.
- ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
- knowledge and use of culturally responsive practices.
- knowledge of community resources.
- bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited institution.
- demonstrated outstanding written and oral communication skills.
- msde issued professional teacher certificate with appropriate endorsement.
- proficiency in bilingual spanish language.
- familiarity with fcps policies, goals, and programs.
- ability to speak with sufficient volume in normal conversation and on telephone.
- capability to travel to schools and state meetings on short notice.
- ability to maintain emotional control under stress and sit for long hours.
- reach with hands and arms; manual dexterity to use office technology.
- mobility to move around the work area and vision to read printed materials.
- hearing sufficient to comprehend conversations and distinguish sounds up to 20 feet.
- occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting up to 15 pounds.
work environment: moderate noise typical of classroom, office, and meeting settings.
