Job Description
:
At the direction of the principal, this para educator performs a variety of tasks that promote student learning and well‑being to support students who are diploma bound. The job focuses on facilitating student mastery of grade‑level or above curriculum. Students are typically in general education classes throughout the school day and may be pulled out for individualized or small group reinforcement.
The para educator provides instructional and classroom management support, as well as clerical tasks that support teachers and other professionals in all types of classrooms.
Physical and Special Requirements
:
Frequent bending, walking, and lifting objects up to 50 lb. Outside duty may be required. Must accommodate flexible scheduling and location changes. Continue planned instructional activities during teacher absenteeism.
Job Specific Information
:
Teach reading to small groups of students.
Time: 9:15 AM – 1:45 PM.
Wage: $23.61–$34.82 per hour (based on years of service).

- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of child development and instructional strategies applicable to the assignment.
- Ability to assist with implementation of the instructional program and monitor student behavior.
- Patient behavior and effective collaboration with children, young adults, and staff.
- Follow written and verbal instructions and perform all required tasks.
- Effective verbal and written communication; reading/write/speaking English.
- Support students with special needs.
- Knowledge of standard computer hardware and software (Google Workspace, MS Office, web‑based tools).
- Quick learning and meeting the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).
- Education, Training, and Experience
- Associate’s degree required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. College coursework minimum nine credit hours in education field (behavior management, instructional strategies).
- One year of experience working with students in structured educational settings preferred.
- Alternative qualifications:
At least 48 college credits and two years of experience in a structured setting. - Para Pro Assessment qualifying score of 455 or higher required.
- Other combinations of education, training, and experience considered if they provide necessary knowledge, abilities, and skills.
