JOB SUMMARY:

This professional position meets the instructional goals of the school and school system by delivering instructional programs effectively to ensure student achievement.

• Must have a bachelor's degree and hold or be eligible for a Maryland educator certificate. (Biology 7-12, Chemistry 7-12, Physics 7-12, Environmental Earth 7-12)
• Demonstrate knowledge of current instructional and curricular methodologies.
• Possess the ability to relate well with students, colleagues, parents, and staff.

• Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
• Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Prepare for classes assigned, and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior.
• Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the district's goals, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
• Strive to implement by instruction and action the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
• Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
• Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
• Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
• Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
• Maintain a professional attitude and appearance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Hours:

This position is a 10-month position with a minimum of 37.5 hours per week. Caroline County Board of Education, Teacher Salary Scale. Placement on the appropriate salary lane/step will be based on knowledge, experience, skills, and abilities related to this position.
