Overview
Mechanical Engineer I – Grantsville, MD at Pillar Innovations. This role supports a variety of innovative projects from concept through installation, including custom electromechanical equipment, robotics, structures, workstations, and equipment mounting. The position offers a balance of computer-based design work in the office and hands-on involvement in the shop or at customer sites. Travel, overtime, and occasional overnight stays may be required.

Responsibilities- Perform Mechanical 3D design, 2D drawings, component specification, assembly, and documentation for custom machines, systems, and products as assigned
- Gather information and pricing for proposals, including site visits as needed
- Collaborate with Project Managers, other engineers, and purchasing to communicate and track equipment and material needs from outside vendors
- Develop and maintain a Bill of Materials (BOM) for projects as assigned
- Lead assembly, troubleshooting, prototyping, and light fabrication in the shop or field
- Recognize and communicate design changes to Engineers and Project Management that are outside the Scope of Work or active Change Orders
- Lead and mentor Engineering Technicians in various job duties and tasks as assigned
- Walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or tools; reach with hands and arms; climb ladders and stairs; crawl; kneel
- Sit, talk, listen, observe, read, write, and type
- Work on site in industrial, commercial, and residential locations
- 6 months–2 years of internship or relevant mechanical/engineering work experience preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required;
Mechanical Engineering degree preferred - Passing FE (Fundamental Engineering) exam preferred or willing to obtain within 1 year
- Valid driver’s license required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; proficient in design software such as Inventor, AutoCAD, or equivalent
