Job DescriptionBay Land Consultants & Designers, Inc. (Bay Land) is seeking a Civil Engineer / Water Resources Engineer with 0 to 3 years of engineering experience to support a growing workload in water resource and capital improvement projects. These projects include large‑scale assessments and master planning for climate change resiliency, design of recreation and park facilities, capital infrastructure improvements, community amenities, and marine facilities projects.
The work will focus on site layout, grading, stormwater management improvements and restoration, sustainable site design, and climate change resiliency projects.
Typical duties include:
- hydrologic and hydraulic modeling with considerations for climate change;
- field assessments;
- preparation of reports, plans, and specifications;
- erosion and sediment control permitting and design.
The successful candidate will work directly for Professional Engineers and Project Managers on projects of varying size and scope, gaining experience rapidly toward becoming a Professional Engineer. The role requires organization, motivation, strong communication skills, attention to detail, collaboration, and the ability to independently complete engineering design tasks with minimal oversight.
RequirementsMinimum Qualifications
- B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited college or university;
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD;
- Effective oral and written communication with clients, regulators, public officials and team members;
- Strong technical writing skills;
- Ability and desire to participate in field work.
- Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D;
- Registered as an Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT);
- Knowledge of survey data collection and processing;
- Exposure to Maryland drainage manual, stormwater management design guidelines, climate change action plan, and/or erosion and sediment control methods and practices;
- Exposure to hydrologic and 1D/2D hydraulic modeling software such as TR‑20, TR‑55, PCSWMM and/or HEC‑RAS;
- Knowledgeable with Geographic Information System (GIS);
- Knowledge of Americans with Disabilities (ADA) Standards for Accessible Design.
