Job DescriptionWe are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer with ten to fifteen years of experience for our client’s D.C. Metro or Duluth, GA offices. The ideal candidate will be a self‑motivated team player looking for a challenging and rewarding opportunity within a dynamic and progressive firm. The successful individual will work closely with our business development team and other discipline leaders to develop technical proposals and take a proactive role in marketing and business development.
This role provides an opportunity to help build and mentor a dedicated team of engineering professionals within a collaborative multi‑discipline office. The candidate will work directly with clients providing consulting services.
- Perform the following functions:
- Structural analysis, design, and detailing on a variety of commercial & industrial projects.
- Design of steel, concrete, and masonry commercial/institutional, federal and industrial buildings, both in new and existing construction.
- Design experience with light gauge steel and timber is a plus.
- Strong ability to interpret technical drawings.
- Manage project team for budget and schedule control.
- Develop fee and qualification‑based proposals.
- Collaborate with the architect, owner, and contractor to provide a well‑coordinated and high‑quality set of structural drawings.
- Able to multi‑task and prioritize in a fast‑paced environment.
- Possess strong critical thinking, organizational, and analytical abilities.
- Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint software preferred. Must understand database concepts. Working knowledge of marketing databases and proposal resources files.
- Positive contributor to overall office and department goals, culture, and morale.
- Ability to travel.
- Work closely with other client offices, such as Raleigh and Atlanta structural groups, to complete projects and tasks.
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program required.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE).
- 10 to 15 years of structural engineering experience.
- Experience with computer software programs and analysis systems (such as RISA, AutoCAD, Revit, RAMSS, ETABS, ENERCALC).
- Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and time‑management skills.
- Project Management experience and/or certifications.
- Desire to lead inter‑disciplinary projects and project teams.
- Local AHJ experience and relationships is a plus.
- Active local industry involvement is a plus.
- Approximate Base Salary of $100,000‑$150,000 based on experience. Salary will be determined based on qualifications and relevant experience.
- Paid overtime at 1.0 times hourly rate.
- Competitive end‑of‑year discretionary bonus based on company/team/personal performance.

- 401(k) with maximum of 5% Contribution Matching for 9% Employee Contribution.
