Position Summary
The Safety Coordinator will assist the Division Safety Leader by ensuring all safety requirements are met in the field and all facilities by managing and coordinating all safety activities within the division’s Fabrication shops.
Responsibilities- Tours and inspects Southlands Fabrication Facilities to ensure compliance with company, state and federal OSHA rules and regulations. Reports concerns to safety management. Ensures health and safety standards are met by coordinating, promoting and conducting various programs and activities related to the safety management system.
- Documents safety inspections, citing dangerous areas/procedures and recommending corrective procedures. Provides recommendations for correcting non‑compliance issues. Ensures cited issues are corrected within designated timeframe.
- Maintains all site required documentation related to safety issues, including accident reports, inspection reports and training logs. Reviews daily job hazard logs and takes action as required.
- Provides emergency response to employees as needed. Participates in and documents information for the investigation of accidents and injuries and submits data to regulatory agencies as required.
- Assists with development of training materials and coordinates and facilitates employee training as necessary.
- Conducts Safety Orientation for new hires.
- Bachelor’s degree in safety, health or environmental applied sciences or related discipline preferred.
- 2–4 years’ experience in related field.
- Certifications in CPR and First Aid preferred.
- OSHA 10‑hour, OSHA 30‑hour required, OSHA 40‑hour training preferred.
- OSHA 500, CHST or ASP certifications preferred.
Strong working knowledge of health and safety management systems; OSHA CFR 1910 and 1926 standards or the state construction safety regulations. - Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong problem‑solving skills.
- Strong customer‑service and organizational skills.
- Strong computer skills—experience with Microsoft Office suite and ability to access OSHA information via the internet.
- Good knowledge of safety operating processes and procedures.

Pay – Final pay is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and market data. For Maryland, the range is $74,000 – $85,000 yearly plus annual incentive, benefits, and retirement program.
Contingent Employment – All employment offers are contingent upon successful drug tests, background checks, and professional reference checks. Roles that include driving as an essential duty require a successful Motor Vehicle Record check (MVR). Currently no sponsorship available.
