UAS Drone Pilot/Data Analyst
Beitzel Corporation is seeking a UAS Pilot / Data Analyst for Civil Services to blend field operations with technical data analysis for civil engineering, surveying, and construction projects using cutting‑edge drone technology.
DescriptionCollect high‑quality aerial data and transform it into accurate maps, models, and reports used for terrain modeling, volume calculations, and surface analysis. Conduct and quality‑check all aerial drone flights, ensuring data accuracy from takeoff to final deliverable. Support business growth with strong customer service and collaboration across project teams.
What You’ll Do- Coordinate with Project Managers, Group Managers, and customers to provide and follow an accurate schedule for collection of flight data
- Plan, execute, and document UAS flight missions for construction and excavation sites, ensuring compliance with FAA Part 107 and all safety, environmental, and operational regulations
- Conduct pre‑flight planning, airspace reviews, and risk assessments for each mission
- Maintain consistent QA/QC procedures for data accuracy, flight documentation, and analysis outputs
- Process flight data to create orthomosaics, digital terrain models (DTMs), and 3D site maps for excavation and grading analysis
- Identify surface features or inconsistencies that may impact excavation activities to assist with cut‑and‑fill volume calculations as needed
- Integrate aerial data with survey control points, GPS datasets, and civil design files
- Prepare detailed reports, visual models, and progress maps for use by project managers, engineers, and contractors
- Walk, sit, stand, and drive for extended periods of time
- Navigate through challenging terrain with difficult access
- Talk, hear, read, write and type
- Regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms
- The employee must regularly lift and or move up to 50 pounds
- Perform duties outdoors in various weather conditions
- 5+ years of FAA approved drone operations and survey data processing experience
- FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate required
- Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain status as a company approved driver
- Experience in excavation, earthworks, or civil site design preferred
- Proficiency with drone mapping and data processing software
- Experience with GIS, CAD, and 3D modeling tools
- Experience with LiDAR and photogrammetry workflows for terrain and volume modeling
- Must be a self‑starter with the ability to work independently, under minimal supervision, while maintaining a high level of integrity
