Facilities Assistant

This position will assist the Facility Manager (FM) for Expeditionary Exploitation Unit ONE (EXU-1), which will include multiple buildings on Naval Support Activity South Potomac Indian Head and Stump Neck. Work is multi-faceted and complex requiring coordination and integration with both strategic and tactical skill sets. The Facilities Assistant (FA) will be responsible for assisting with facility operations and maintenance while utilizing quality assurance to maintain system certifications and safety.

The FA will be expected to implement strategies to meet expected financial goals, analyze facility risks to determine potential deviations and deploy solutions to meet/exceed financial expectations while exercising discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance within those areas identified below.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist the FM with respect to operation and maintenance of assigned facility including services involving building, structure, grounds, installed equipment and utilities.
• During construction phases, establish meetings and requirements protocols to promote effective communication and ensure contract compliance, information sharing and lessons learned improvements to meet EXU-1's requirements.
• Support FM with contract development, planning and performance evaluation outside of NAVFAC's scope to meet EXU-1's operational requirements.
• Aid in development and negotiations of a comprehensive building and system maintenance plan for EXU-1 and coordinate required maintenance, major repairs and upgrades as required.
• Assist FM with development of policies, procedures, financial goals, metrics for efficient facility management and operations.
• Assist FM to create Standard Operating Procedures for Building 900 and outlying buildings and coordinate with NAVFAC facility repairs outside the scope of EXU-1's facility team.
• Coordinate with the FM to provide comprehensive solutions to complex facility management problems.
• Assist FM with coordination with NAVFAC for outage coordination and technical support.
• Perform as EXU-1 representative to the NAVFAC assigned Program Manager for comprehensive renovation of Bldg.
  900, Bldg. 1777 and other assigned facilities as required.
• Routinely evaluate and test building systems to create baselines and to be proactive to efficiently determine possible system failures and prevent possible outages.
• Assist the FM with compliance with OSHA, DOT Safety Requirements and Training.
• The FA will be the first line of assistance to the FM to respond to trouble calls concerning facility maintenance or repair concerns and may perform repairs when directed by FM.

Qualifications:

• Experience working with NAVFAC.
• Basic knowledge of Building Maintenance to include HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical
• Expeditionary community experience or have supported those operational forces
• At least one year of related experience in facility operations.
