Overview
The Director of FP&A – Operations is a senior financial leader responsible for driving financial planning, analysis, and performance management across operational functions. This role partners closely with the executive team to translate operational activity into financial outcomes, improve margin performance, strengthen cash flow, and support value‑creation initiatives in a private‑equity–backed environment.
Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Forecasting
- Lead annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and long‑range operational financial models.
- Partner with operations leadership to align financial plans with labor, capacity, pricing, and growth.
- Build scenario and sensitivity analyses to evaluate operational and market impact.
Operational Performance & Analytics
- Own operational financial KPIs including utilization, job margin performance, and maintenance plan profitability.
- Analyze revenue growth by line of business and identify margin drivers.
- Monitor job margin variance and deliver root‑cause analysis.
- Evaluate SG&A efficiency and overhead trends.
Margin, Cash Flow & Value Creation
- Drive margin improvement initiatives through pricing, labor optimization, and cost discipline.
- Strengthen cash flow, liquidity forecasting, and working‑capital management.
- Quantify EBITDA and cash‑flow impact of operational improvements.
Executive & Investor Reporting
- Prepare executive‑level dashboards and reporting packages.
- Translate complex data into actionable insights for leadership and PE sponsors.
- Support board materials and investor communications.
Systems, Tools & Leadership
- Enhance FP&A processes, reporting cadence, and analytical rigor.
- Leverage BI tools and advanced Excel modeling.
- Mentor FP&A talent and partner cross‑functionally.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field – Required.
- MBA, CPA, or CFA – Preferred.
- 7+ years of FP&A or operational finance experience.
- Prior experience in private‑equity–backed or high‑growth environments – Strongly preferred.
- Advanced financial modeling, forecasting, and BI tool experience.
- Sage Intacct experience – Preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills (XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, financial modeling) – Required.
- Advanced financial modeling, forecasting, and variance analysis expertise.
- Strong understanding of operational cost drivers, margin dynamics, and working capital.
- Ability to synthesize large data sets into clear, actionable insights.
- Executive‑level communication and presentation skills with strong business acumen.
- Ability to influence without authority and partner effectively across functions.
