Job Summary
Direct Support Staff provide compassionate, hands‑on support to individuals with disabilities and/or special needs. The role focuses on assisting individuals with daily living activities, promoting independence, ensuring safety, and supporting personal goals in home and community environments.
Key Responsibilities- Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Support meal preparation, feeding, and medication reminders
- Provide community integration support
, including transportation and participation in activities - Follow individual service plans (ISPs) and care plans
- Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment
- Monitor and document behaviors, progress, and incidents accurately
- Use positive behavior support strategies when needed
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, and care teams
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with all agency policies and regulations
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Ability to pass criminal background checks and reference verification
- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
- Ability to lift, reposition, and assist clients as needed
- Strong communication skills and a caring, professional demeanor
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods
- Ability to manage challenging behaviors calmly and professionally
