Posterity Group LLC is a veteran owned, service-disabled small business, headquartered in Rockville, MD, that specializes in federal government contracting and staffing. We are cultivating a WARP Multidisciplinary Clinic and looking to staff Peer Support Specialist to provide their services to veterans in our Rockville, MD headquarters.
The Peer Support Specialist is expected to perform the following:
- Build supportive, recovery-oriented relationships.
- Share lived experience selectively and professionally to support patient goals.
- Help individuals develop wellness, recovery and self-management plans.
- Assist patients in navigating healthcare, benefits and community resources.
- Accompany patients to appointments or community services when authorized.
- Facilitate peer groups, wellness activities and recovery education.
- Promote self-advocacy and informed decision-making.
- Support engagement after hospitalization, crisis or treatment interruption.
- Recognize warning signs and elevate safety concerns immediately.
- Maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality and role clarity.
- Document peer contacts and goal progress.
- Coordinate with clinicians without providing diagnosis, psychotherapy or independent clinical advice.
- Participate in supervision and continuing education.
For Maryland Medicaid reimbursement in specified behavioral-health programs, peer services must be provided by a qualifying Certified Peer Recovery Specialist under required supervision. Maryland Medicaid peer-support requirements
Requirements Minimum qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Relevant lived experience and demonstrated recovery or successful adaptation.
- Maryland Certified Peer Recovery Specialist credential, or eligibility to obtain it within the employer’s required timeframe.
- Completion of required ethics, confidentiality and peer-support training.
- Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries and use supervision effectively.
- Veteran status or direct experience supporting military-connected populations for Veteran-facing assignments.
- Experience with disability, rehabilitation, autism-family navigation or behavioral-health recovery.
- Wellness Recovery Action Plan, motivational interviewing or suicide-prevention training.
- Valid driver’s license for community-based assignments.
- Patient engagement and retention.
- Completion of recovery and wellness goals.
- Successful connection to clinical and community resources.
- Follow-up after crisis or treatment interruption.
- Boundary, privacy and documentation compliance.
- Patient-reported hope, confidence and satisfaction
