PositionSummary
The Senior Data Manager is responsible for all aspects of data management and database administration for GIS and IT systems. The primary responsibilities of this role are to perform quality assurance, quality control, and data entry for data holdings used in standard products, non-standard products, and/or in support of mission requirements, and to create, maintain, and run reports to aid in the performance of those duties
Duties And Responsibilities ESSENTIAL:- Architect databases storing GIS information to support quick retrieval of data and products.
- Modernize GIS databases while supporting legacy data.
- As enhanced data is identified, the candidate will be responsible to update and correct data sets.
- Responsible for generating data quality reports.
- Develop and implement quality assurance and quality control (QAQC) procedures to routinely ensure data quality and integrity during multiple phases of data capture.
- Perform data entry to enhance the accuracy and coordination of data between different datasets/databases.
- Maintain configuration control thereby ensuring precise data records.
- Create, maintain and improve documentation and data maintenance procedures related to data management and database administration.
- Develop and communicate DB best-practices and procedures.
- Work with IT, Software Engineers, and Security personnel regarding enhancements and/or improvements to data/database tools and reports.
- Identify, assess and implement improvements to processes and technologies to deliver a better product.
- Conduct performance tuning of indexes and databases in general.
- Reviews database design and integration of systems, makes recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements.
- Understand linkages between multiple SQL databases used for different functions or users.
- Support data ingest from existing DBs and flat files into SQL Database.
- Setup permissions at Database, Table and Record level with support from IT group.
- Work independently and as a team member.
- Lead and mentor less experienced employees.
- Management and maintenance of switches, routers, firewalls, and administration of network security.
- Ensures work given and completed is within compliance with processes, standards and policies of the organization.
- Lead projects within department or job functions.
- Lead individual contributors to ensure the work completion is as per set standards and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Travel (~ two weeks annually).
- Scheduled weekly hours: 40.
- Day shift - With occasional after-hours and weekends (< 3%).
REQUIRED:
- Must have 5-9 years of relevant experience with Bachelor's Degree in Information Science, GIS, Computer Science or a related technical field. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Must have 2-5 years of real-world experience in data management and database administration (preferably in support of federal government programs).
- Ability to coordinate with IT, Software, and Security professionals is critical.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Ability to obtain/maintain Security+ Certification.
- Experience with SQL, Python, File Databases, and Personal Geodatabases
- Ability to solve problems with minimal support.
- Ability to import and convert multiple data formats.
- Must have or be able to obtain a TS security clearance, be able to take/pass a polygraph, and be able to maintain both for the tenure of this position.
