Overview

Title: UX/UI Developer Manager

K ’s Mission Engineering Division delivers complex technical solutions and expert support to the U.S. Department of Defense, specializing in modeling and simulation, cyber transformation, air vehicle mission integration, and lifecycle support. As a trusted partner with a proven history in mission technology, K  collaborates closely with clients to develop innovative and effective solutions. With a strong ethical framework, K  prioritizes data security, privacy, and responsible information management to ensure mission success.

K  is seeking an experienced and dynamic UX/UI Developer Manager to join our Advanced Analytics & Cloud Team. This role is responsible for leading a team of designers and developers to deliver cutting-edge user experiences and interfaces for Department of Defense (DoD) programs. The position will oversee the strategy, design, and implementation of intuitive solutions that integrate advanced analytics, cloud technologies, and mission-critical defense applications.

Candidates will thrive in a collaborative environment, working closely with engineering, product, and DoD stakeholders to ensure impactful, user-centered results.
This position is contingent upon funding.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of UX/UI designers and developers, fostering collaboration and professional growth.
  • Oversee the strategic direction of UX/UI efforts across multiple projects, ensuring alignment with client needs and DoD requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define deliverables, timelines, and milestones for design and development activities.
  • Supervise the creation of user interfaces for analytics and cloud-based solutions, ensuring designs are visually appealing, accessible, and user-friendly.
  • Champion a user-centered design approach, conducting user research, gathering feedback from government users, and performing usability testing.
  • Ensure seamless integration of UX/UI solutions with advanced analytics, cloud platforms, and defense technologies.
  • Support the development of dashboards and data visualization tools to translate complex analytics into actionable insights.
  • Maintain responsive design standards across platforms while adhering to government security protocols and best practices.
  • Stay current with emerging UX/UI trends, tools, and defense industry requirements to continuously improve design practices.
  • Produce and maintain documentation, including wireframes, prototypes, style guides, and design specifications, and provide progress updates to stakeholders.
Basic Qualifications
  • Clearance & Citizenship: U.S. citizenship required. Active/Current Secret Clearance.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in UX/UI Design, Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in UX/UI design and development, including leadership of design teams.
  • Technical Proficiency: Expertise with UX/UI design tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD) and front-end development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Angular).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in UX/UI Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or related discipline.
  • Experience with full-stack development or familiarity with back-end systems.
  • Prior experience working on defense-related projects and understanding military user requirements.
  • Knowledge of data security and compliance standards in government projects.

Scheduled Weekly

Hours:

40 hours/week

Compensation: $107,000-$161,000. The salary range posted is based on the national average. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s location, knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience, contract affordability, and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation: K  may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
