Responsible for preparation of materials to support downstream manufacturing operations. May operate specialty preparation equipment, weigh, measure and check raw materials, assist with in‑process testing, validate processes related to filtration, cleaning and sterilization, and manage waste disposal. Identify, troubleshoot and resolve complex bulking/formulation issues.
Responsibilities And Duties- Weighs, measures and checks raw materials to ensure proper ingredients in batches
- Performs simple analytical tests (pH, conductivity, absorbance)
- Performs routine cleaning of processing equipment
- Handles hazardous waste as appropriate
- Assists with inventory counting activities as required
- Inspects in‑process parts to ensure consistent quality and removes defective product, packaging, and component material
- Ensures timely and accurate documentation of all manufacturing activities performed
- Monitors meters, gauges, temperatures, pressures, and related controls
- Plans and controls timing of operations
- Generates reports, graphs, and other data
- Ensures accurate proportions of batches following approved procedure
- Interprets complex drawings, diagrams, charts, and specifications
- Performs complex work to close tolerances with high quality and accuracy
- Makes effective decisions relative to position requirements
- Evaluates operating process equipment and ensures compliance with standard manufacturing practices (SMP)
- Uses independent judgment to troubleshoot and solve problems with little or no supervision
- May develop weekly production plans, coordinate raw material resources, and communicate priorities to downstream parties
- Provides support to lead and/or supervisor when necessary
- May provide training support for onboarding and/or new procedures
- May provide support on special projects
- Demonstrates the ability to follow established procedures according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
- Must follow all BD housekeeping policies and procedures
- Must follow all BD safety policies and procedures
- Must be able to work overtime as required to meet BD business requirements
- Perform other duties as required
Minimum Education /
Experience:
- High School degree with 4 years’ manufacturing experience or AA science degree with 2 years’ experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in an FDA/Regulated environment
- Exhibit the ability to use independent judgment and demonstrated leadership
- Possess ability to communicate (oral/written) technical and non‑technical information across the group and organization
- Possess strong time management skills to complete assigned tasks in an accurate and timely manner
- Strong attention to detail
- Possess ability to operate independently on semi‑routine and routine activities
- Must be proficient in English with ability to read, write, analyze/evaluate charts, follow simple diagrams and perform basic arithmetic
- Demonstrate ability to use personal computers
- Proficiency in MS Excel is required
- Must be able to use advanced math skills to produce accurate formulas
- Possess ability to read, write, comprehend and interpret complex charts, drawings, diagrams, graphs and other data
- Obtaining BD forklift certification is required
- Must be able to stand, walk and climb stairs 50% to 95% of the workday
- Routine use of safety glasses, steel‑toed shoes, respirators and hearing protection may be required. Must be used if required
- Repetitive heavy lifting required – 50‑100 lbs (70%); 100‑200 lbs (30%)
- 2nd Shift Production Schedule – 10‑hr./4‑day work week
Salary Range Information
$22.70 – $35.20 USD Hourly
Location: USA MD - Sparks - 39 Loveton Circle
Shift: 2nd Shift Production Schedule – 10‑hr./4‑day work week
