Job Summary
The Production Technician will work in our Production Department. A Production Technician in Accident, MD will construct and manufacture metal parts and products, assemble various sub-assemblies, and assist in downstream work centers like wiring, crating, test and service as needed. This role will be required to follow blueprints, determine material measurements, and take responsibility for fabricating parts used in later assembly processes.
This role is responsible for the quality of your output, and the ability to perform simple tests to ensure manufactured quality and tolerance. This position will report to the Production Supervisor.
- Ability to fabricate/weld most products in the Phenix products line, both standard and non-standard.
- Ability to assemble/build Variac and tap switch components and small sub-assemblies of various products;
Small Resonant Test Set (RTS) assemblies (Tank Type);
Column Type Variable Transformer sub-assemblies; CTVT Regulators, Variacs, Double and Triple stacks including drive chains and clutches. - Ability to assemble doors and windows on rubber goods units.
- Ability to MIG, TIG, stick, aluminum, and plastic weld.
- Exceeds expectations in quality of work, accuracy, and completion of work within allotted time for task.
- Assist test and service departments with assembly of large resonant sets and switch gear on and off site. Additional duties as required.
- Answers questions and provide guidance to other team members.
- Fabricates and manufactures metal parts, cabinets, frames, fiberglass, and tanks, for later assembly.
- Understands blueprints to ensure exact specifications of output.
- Produces strong, neat, clean welds.
- Uses specialized machinery for industrial welding and oversees machines that perform the same job.
- Assesses welded surfaces, structures, and components to identify errors.
- Ability to complete assembly and wiring of small standard jobs.
- Monitors machinery for appropriate usage and temperature.
- Welds components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions.
- Plans proper sequence of tasks to complete the assignment.
- Documents actions by completing production and quality forms.
- Conserves materials by minimizing waste.
- Checks output for quality assurance and documents or discards defects.
- Identifies and performs machine maintenance and minor repairs.
- Follows safety regulations such as wearing heat‑resistant gloves, protective masks, and safety shoes.
- Maintains a safe and clean workstation.
- Assist in the crating/shipping department as needed.
- Performs other duties as requested by management.
Education:
- HS Diploma or GED
- Additional equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of required level of education.
Preferred Experience (Not Required):
- Trade or technical school is preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- 9+ years of welding experience welding tools and procedures; including MIG welding, TIG welding, metal fabricating, grinding, and finishing metals.
- Experience in sawing, plasma, and torch cutting.
- Experience performing self-directed layout work.
- Experience shearing, drilling, and bending metal to specifications.
- Excellent blueprint reading and knowledge of common welding symbols.
- Experience working with machine tools or mechanical assembly.
- Proficient in math.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Outstanding attention to detail.
While performing the duties of this job the employee is often required to stand, sit, use computers, read, write, type, use copy machines, file paperwork, use telephones, and utilize written and oral communication to interact with clients, co‑workers, and customers. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions of this job. Must be capable of lifting 30 pounds.
Must use assistance when lifting 50 or more pounds.
Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job related skills, as well as relevant education or training experience.
Hourly Pay Range Minimum $23.40 - Midpoint $29.25
