Job Overview
Performs both production assembly operations and complete system analysis, testing and performance optimization on multiple instruments. Performs highly complex electrical, mechanical or software troubleshooting to determine problems in non-functioning test equipment. Provides solutions as needed based on pass/fail criteria of instrument performance. Performs equipment modifications as directed by test/manufacturing engineers. Dismantles, adjusts, repairs and assembles equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, operating or repair manuals, and/or rough sketches or drawings.
Identifies, troubleshoots, and resolves highly complex issues associated with instrument testing operations. Subject matter expert on overall instrument system performance. Trains associates on a wide variety of areas including testing, conducting repair activities, and complex troubleshooting.
- Capable to build, integrate, and understand the entire assembly process and requirements for any instrument in the production area
- Proficient on all test instructions of multiple instruments, including functional and release of highly complex instruments
- Analyze results and data to determine pass/fail and provide solutions when there is a fail result including highly complex system failure and symptoms of instrument performance
- Analyze instrument performance and investigate to root cause and repair, even with minimal information
- Drive system performance improvements through procedural and design optimization
- Troubleshoot and repair even the most complex of issues or challenges with a process driven approach
- Subject matter expert for complex instruments and ability to work with minimal support from Engineers / Technicians
- Ownership of test beds, tools, including monitoring, maintenance, optimization, and repair
- Investigate, document, and communicate root cause, trends, and system challenges for Quality Investigations and/or CI
- Provide optimization system performance solutions including precision of movement and/or light systems through use of pass/fail data results
- Lead on identify defects, recommend design and process improvements as needed
- Provide expertise in reading / understanding drawings, work instructions, and overall workmanship standards
- Train associates on testing complex systems, conducting repair activities, and conduct complex troubleshooting
- Complete any related production activities in compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and in accordance with BD's expectations for Safety and Quality
- Work or interface with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Planning and Purchasing as needed
- Complete work activity in the accordance to BD's defined specifications, operating procedures, and company policies
- AA technical degree with technical capability and relevant skills and one and a half years relevant experience or High school degree with technical capability and minimum 5 years relevant work experience
