Instrument Test Technician 3 at BD

This role requires a skilled individual to perform production assembly operations, analyze instrument performance, and provide complex troubleshooting and solutions to maintain high quality and reliable equipment.
Responsibilities and Duties- Build, integrate, and understand the entire assembly process for instruments in the production area.
- Perform test instructions for multiple instruments, including functional and release of highly complex instruments.
- Analyze results and data to determine pass/fail and provide solutions for failing results, including complex system failures and performance symptoms.
- Investigate instrument performance and determine root causes for failures, even with minimal information.
- Drive system performance improvements through procedural and design optimization.
- Troubleshoot and repair complex issues with a process-driven approach.
- Serve as subject‑matter expert for complex instruments and work independently with minimal support.
- Own test beds, tools, monitoring, maintenance, optimization, and repair duties.
- Document and communicate root cause, trends, and challenges for quality investigations and continuous improvement.
- Provide optimization solutions, such as precision movement or light system adjustments, based on pass/fail data.
- Lead identification of defects and recommend design/process improvements.
- Read and interpret drawings, work instructions, and workmanship standards.
- Train associates on testing complex systems, conducting repair activities, and troubleshooting.
- Perform related production activities in compliance with regulatory requirements and BD’s safety and quality expectations.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Planning, and Purchasing as needed.
- Complete work activity according to BD’s defined specifications, operating procedures, and company policies.
- AA technical degree with relevant skills and ≥1½ years of relevant experience, or high‑school degree with relevant skills and ≥5 years of experience.
Salary: $27.90 – $43.40 USD/hour
