THE ROLE
The Plant Manager leads all aspects of plant operations to achieve year-over-year improvements in safety, quality, service, employee satisfaction, and cost performance. This role is accountable for driving a culture of operational excellence and sustainability by ensuring strict compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards while optimizing production efficiency and resource utilization. The Plant Manager fosters a high-performing team through strong leadership, communication, and employee development, delivering measurable results in productivity, cost reduction, and community engagement.
RESPONSIBILITIES- HSE – Responsible for year-over-year improvement on safety incident and severity rates (“The Road to Zero”).
- Strict adherence to environmental regulations and operating permit parameters (“No NOVs”).
- Foster a culture of sustainability at all levels of plant operations.
- Ensure all industrial hygiene requirements are being followed.
- Quality – Responsible for year-over-year improvement on the Internal Quality Audit scorecard and strict adherence to manufacturing and finished product specifications.
- Service – 100% achievement of target service rates on all production and product lines; 10% reduction in year-over-year downtime and slow time; lead Root Cause and Corrective Action for any target not achieved.
- People – Effective management and leadership for the facility through performance management and performance appraisals; provide leadership through effective communication channels; create a culture of employee growth through mentoring, training, and development; foster a culture that engages the plant personnel to give back to the community through the “Malarkey Cares” initiative.
- Cost – Effectively communicate the financial targets for the facility and take appropriate action to reduce any gaps in actual performance versus the target in year-over-year process waste and seconds; raw material efficiency improvements of 0.2% year-over-year.
- High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred.
- 15 years of progressive experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Five years of successful and current experience as a production supervisor in a continuous, high-speed manufacturing operation.
- Prior experience in pulp and paper, including woven and nonwoven fiber processing, preferred.
- Proficient knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office and G‑Suite.
- Experience leading Root Cause Analysis.
- Experience handling large volumes of raw materials daily, such as asphalt and aggregate materials.
- Strong supervision, leadership, and interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently within interpretive guidelines, take the initiative, and perform effectively in a fast‑paced and constantly changing environment.
- Salary: $154,500 – $200,000
