HARTZ Search invites you to explore an exciting leadership opportunity with our client, University of Maryland Capital Region Health, for the role of Nurse Manager, Behavioral Health. The Nurse Manager, Behavioral Health, is a solutions-oriented leader responsible for building, leading, and influencing a dynamic interdisciplinary team dedicated to high-quality behavioral health care. This role is accountable for the delivery of patient care services that align with the organization’s strategic vision and achieve excellence in clinical outcomes, financial performance, and patient satisfaction.
Overseeing both the inpatient Behavioral Health Unit and the Emergency Room Psychiatric Unit, the Nurse Manager ensures that care delivery meets all professional, regulatory, and scope-of-practice standards. They are also accountable for maintaining the clinical competency and performance of team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and shared accountability.
This role requires a leader with a strong, visible presence—someone who inspires trust, drives collaboration across interdisciplinary teams, and sets a clear tone for clinical excellence and compassionate care. With a strong emphasis on collaboration, the Nurse Manager designs and sustains systems that support effective interdisciplinary team functioning, ensuring seamless coordination and communication across all levels of care.
QUALIFICATIONS Education & Experience- BSN required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maryland, or eligibility for licensure due to Compact state agreement outlined through the MD Board of Nursing, is required.
- BCLS certification is required. ACLS certification is preferred.
- Nursing Administration or clinical certification preferred.
- A minimum of three to five years of management experience in Behavioral Health is required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of recent nursing experience in an acute care setting, including one (1) year Charge Nurse experience. Proven clinical competence and proficiency in the area of specialty is required.
- Union experience is highly preferred.
- Nurse Manager, Behavioral Health reports directly to Senior Director ED, BH, ASC, DVSAC.
