Taqueria Cashier’s main objective is to provide friendly, outstanding customer service in the taqueria department through friendly, speedy and accurate recording and gathering of customers food and beverage orders. Operate the cash register, and receive various forms of payment for items purchased. Responsible for accurate money handling, and the balancing of cash till at end of shift.
ESSENTIALJOB DUTIES:
- Smile and greet all customers and provide them with outstanding prompt and courteous service.
- Accurate recording of customers orders while promoting sales by suggestive selling.
- Properly operate cash register, scale and other equipment.
- Follow proper cash, and payment handing procedures according to company policy.
- Balance the cash drawer at the end of shift.
- Full knowledge of food and beverage menus.
- Respond to customer requests; use intercom codes to call manager for assistance when needed.
- Prepare, serve agua frescas, fresh juices, coffee and champurrado upon request, and ensure that the quality beverages are maintained throughout the day; prepare as needed.
- Safely clean empty agua fresca jars, juice extractor machine, coffee carafes, and champurado pot
- Follow all health code regulations; ensure that the highest standards of food safety, personal hygiene, and sanitation are practiced.
- Maintain work area clean and free of clutter, including not storing personal items in the department, cleaning tables, removing dishes and trays from tables, maintain floors clean and free of debris, clean and replenish salsa bar as needed.
- Work safely and be aware of coworkers and customer safety at all times; use all tools and equipment in a safe manner, use safety equipment according to Company policies, and immediately report any equipment discrepancies to a manager in charge.
- Work as a team member and assist coworkers when needed.
- Treat coworkers and customers respectfully at all times. Do not use obscene gestures and/or profane language.
- Follow dress code policy and change apron and/or smock as needed.
- Abide by all store rules, and company policies as stated in Company’s Employee Handbook.
- Contact your department manager or store director regarding any questions, problems, or concerns.
- Complete follow through of additional duties as assigned.
SKILLS:
- Must have a good attitude, friendly and courteous personality, and enjoy working with the public.
- Able to patiently serve our customers needs to successfully satisfy their requests.
- Basic understanding of English language.
- Must be able to count and perform simple math calculations without error; ability to accurately handle money.
- Thorough knowledge of all foods and beverages served in the Taqueria.
- Must be able to work safely in a fast-paced environment.
SKILLS:
- Prior restaurant/fast food experience.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must exhibit a responsible, professional, and positive attitude towards the job, coworkers and customers.
- Must be able to work a flexible work schedule including weekends and holidays.
- Must be able to transfer to other locations within a reasonable commute of home store.
- Must be able to document ability to legally work in the US.
