Responsibilities
  • Make scheduled rounds inside and outside the buildings to help maintain a safe and secure environment for residents and their property as well as company property.
  • Enforce Mercy Ridge policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Respond to all fire alarms and apartment emergency calls.
  • Develop and maintain a good working rapport with residents, family members, visitors, vendors and co‑workers, to assure safety and security procedures meet the needs of the facility.
  • Assist with special security needs as they arise involving employees, visitors, and other members of the community.
  • Provide detailed written reports of all incidents that occur during the shift and share them with community leadership.
  • Maintain entrances in the facility for safe passage at all times.
  • Accomplish all work in the order of priority set by the supervisor and perform specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Partner with Concierge to complete daily up‑and‑about checks.
  • Perform service‑related tasks as assigned to ensure the safety and security of residents and staff.
  • Maintain all tools, equipment and supplies in proper condition.
  • Report all incidents/accidents immediately; report all unsafe/hazardous conditions and equipment immediately, be trained and knowledgeable in equipment lock‑out/tag‑out procedures, assure that established safety regulations are followed at all times, recognize unsafe conditions and take action or report conditions to supervisor.
  • Utilize proper body mechanics and personal protective equipment (PPE) and devices.
  • Use equipment, services and supplies in a cost‑effective manner.
  • Attend in‑service training and education sessions as assigned.
  • Be knowledgeable of legal requirements while conducting investigations and interviewing witnesses and suspects.
  • Provide coverage for the front desk for staff breaks when needed.
  • Assist with elevator malfunctions and entrapments, escort emergency services to the location when needed.
Requirements Certification Requirements
  • Must possess current certification through the Maryland State Police.
  • Must attend training provided by the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) as a Healthcare Security Officer when given the opportunity by the Medical Center to attend.
  • Must obtain CPR certification within 6 months of hire or transfer; CPR must be current at all times.
Education & Experience Requirements
  • Must possess a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must possess a minimum of two years of experience in law enforcement or public contract security, or one year of healthcare security experience.
Other Requirements
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize one or more of the following:
    Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Meditech (if applicable to position), Epic (if applicable to position), Performance Manager/Net Learning.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
  • Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public.
  • Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and be able to function effectively as a team with other employees.
