Responsibilities
  • Scans monitors at workstation and surrounding area of responsibility frequently to ensure safety and security of residents, staff, visitors, etc. Consistently follows department procedures, including badge checks, shift logs, etc.
  • Makes guard tours at the proper times, always alert for wandering or confused residents. Reports all safety or hazardous situations of an emergency nature immediately. Records all occurrences and maintenance needs on the proper forms before the end of the shift.
  • Responds as trained to all fire alarms or emergency situations and assures that emergency assistance is responding.
  • Responds to calls for service and disruptive or emergency situations. Investigates, assures order, resolves problems and submits reports as necessary. Directs traffic and enforces parking compliance.
  • Operates the switchboard in an efficient and proper manner, answering calls promptly and courteously. Pages and makes announcements as requested in a clear and proper tone of voice. Takes and refers messages accurately. Contacts correct personnel (Pastoral Care, Home Care, Building Services, etc.) to respond to family and staff crises promptly and efficiently.
  • Greets visitors, vendors, etc., offering directions or other needed assistance. Calls department to inform of visitor’s presence if appropriate.
