Concordia University is needing a Part-Time Security Officer who wants to be a part of this mission. The main campus (and this role) is located in Seward, Nebraska. Position Purpose

Under the supervision of the Director of Security, patrols assigned territory to protect persons and property. Must be at least 19 years of age to apply. Position pays $17 an hour.

Position Duties
  • Tours buildings and property of the university, examining doors, windows, and gates to assure they are secure.
  • Inspects premises for such irregularities as signs of intrusion, interruption of utility services, suspicious acts or persons and fire or safety hazards.
  • Inspects fire alarms, fire extinguishers, closed circuit television and access control systems for signs of tampering.
  • Answers alarms, investigates disturbances, and calls appropriate authorities as required by situation.
  • Answers lock out calls from students or faculty/staff.
  • Locks and unlocks doors according to schedule.
  • Assists visitors or the general public in problems that may arise on the university campus.
  • Writes reports of irregularities and keeps a daily log.
  • Maintains confidentiality of security information.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a security officer preferred.
  • Certified in First Aid and CPR is a plus.
  • Ability to walk for 30-40 minutes per hour during an eight-hour shift.
  • Ability to climb up to three flights of stairs at a time.
  • Ability to withstand outdoor weather conditions throughout the year.
  • Vision correctable to 20/20 required.
  • Hearing correctable within a normal range required.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Must possess a good moral character.

Position Requirements
  • All staff and faculty must follow security policies that correspond to the level of sensitivity of the data they handle.
  • Staff and faculty should promptly report any security concerns or incidents to designated personnel.
  • Maintain security and patching of personal devices connected to the Institutional email.
  • Maintain high standards for institutional, staff, faculty, employee, and financial data used for business operations.
