Are you looking for a hands‑on, exciting role that combines crane operation with welding and mechanical services? As a Crane Operator in our Field Welding and Mechanical Services Group, you’ll bring your expertise to a variety of tasks, from operating both fixed and non‑fixed cab cranes to working alongside your team in welding, fabrication, and mechanical tasks. You’ll be a key player in helping us move and place large objects with precision, while also assisting with basic maintenance and troubleshooting on the cranes you operate.
This role isn’t just about crane operation – it’s about being part of a skilled trade crew and jumping in where needed, whether it’s in welding, fit‑up, or fabrication. You’ll get to work on a wide range of challenging and rewarding tasks, and your customer‑service skills will help us keep our clients happy and our projects running smoothly.
- Operate all sizes of cranes per the requirements of the work to be performed.
- Control the rigging, lifting, moving, and positioning of loads on the crane.
- Observe and make certain loads are safely attached and that weight loads and lifting capacities are within proper limits.
- Perform routine safety inspections and continuously inspect crane cables and hooks and ensure that worn parts are replaced.
- Provide non‑certified welding services to construction trades and to various construction, industrial, and mechanical projects.
- A minimum of 2+ years of crane services experience (preferred).
- NCCCO certification required.
- Mechanical and/or electrical experience preferred – welding experience required.
- Mastery level with multiple crane‑associated applications (i.e., wireline, general construction, etc.).
- 2+ years of industrial welding experience or trade‑school program completion preferred.
- Ability to weld components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions.
- Sit (for prolonged periods), talk, hear, read, and write.
- Walk/use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb ladders and stairs; crawl, kneel, lie down.
- Lift and/or move up to 75 pounds unassisted.
- Work in confined spaces.
- Work extended hours and potential shift work.
- Perform duties on‑site in all types of weather.
- Breathe effectively while wearing a respirator.
- Wear safety equipment per OSHA/MSHA requirements, including steel‑toed boots (or metatarsal shoes), hard hat, lanyard, fire‑retardant clothing, protective eyewear, etc.
