Salary Range: $132,000 – $156,000 (USD)

Seeking a skilled Database Engineer (Level
2) to provide hands‑on technical expertise in the design, implementation, and maintenance of database systems in a secure environment. This role will support mission‑critical applications, including the development of ReSTful APIs, database structures, and data models integrated into microservices architectures. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Python‑based frameworks and be comfortable working in a cloud‑first, containerized, Agile environment.

• Design, develop, and maintain database structures aligned with system architecture

• Support implementation of data workflows for storage, retrieval, and analysis

• Develop and support ReSTful APIs using Python (Django or Flask)

• Integrate and manage database technologies including Maria
  
  DB, Mongo
  
  DB, and PostgreSQL

• Respond to break/fix requests and update existing data models or processes

• Deliver JSON‑formatted data to frontend systems via microservices

• Optimize database performance and troubleshoot scaling or query issues

• Support deployment in cloud‑based environments (e.g., AWS, C2S)

• Utilize Docker containers for service deployment

• Maintain documentation using Confluence and track tasks in Jira

• Collaborate with team members in an Agile development environment using Git for version control

• Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph

• 5+ years of experience with a relevant technical degree, or 10+ years without a degree

• Proficiency with:

  • Mongo
    
    DB or Maria
    
    DB – deployment, tuning, and scaling

  • Python, and either Django or Flask frameworks

  • ReST endpoint development and microservice architecture

  • JSON/XML serialization, Swagger/OpenAPI specifications

  • Git, Jira, Confluence, and Visual Studio Code (or similar IDE)

• Experience working in Agile teams and cloud environments (AWS, C2S)

• Familiarity with Docker and containerized application development

• Experience designing robust database schemas for performance and scalability

• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines for database and microservices deployment

• Background in government or national security environments
