Underwrite residential mortgage and equity loans that comply with federal regulations, state regulations, secondary market guidelines, credit union policies and procedures while participating in the credit union's objective of exceeding expectations with each member.
Key Accountabilities- Reviews, interprets and analyzes loan applicants’ credit histories, income and assets, tax returns, financial statements, and other complex financial information to render a loan decision, and effectively present loans to management when necessary
- Examines loan documentation to ensure Compliance with various state and federal regulations and guidelines. Works with management to identify and manage new regulatory procedures
- Restructures loans to mitigate risk
- Works closely and effectively with MLOs, Processors and Closer
- Reviews appraisals and titles for accuracy and ensure all title requirements are met. Works with title companies to resolve title/survey issues
- Ongoing education and training:
Mentor RE staff and MSRs with underwriting training
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma
- Understanding of Appraisal and Title requirements
- Four years related experience in Underwriting Real Estate loans and/or Relevant training
- Working knowledge of State and Federal lending regulations
- Working knowledge of Secondary Market Guidelines
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Loan Origination Systems, and Automated Underwriting Systems
- Reasoning ability to structure loan offers, understand regulations, and policies and procedures
