OB Technician | Obstetrics, Part-Time (3rd shift, Every other weekend)

Description

We are looking for an OB Technician to join our collaborative team at Memorial Health!

Responsibilities and Expectations:

  • Sets up vaginal delivery tables; prepares supplies, instruments, and equipment for deliveries and surgical procedures; opens sterile supplies, sets up the operating room (OR) for cesarean sections and performs scrub duties; labels and prepares specimens for pathology.
  • Supports licensed nurses by assuming responsibility for direct and indirect patient care—including assisting with activities of daily living, personal care, comfort measures, and maintaining a safe, clean environment—to provide optimum patient outcomes and efficiencies to flow; charges supplies accurately.
  • Collects patient data (vital signs, weights, input/output, pain scores) and identifies and reports significant findings to the licensed nurse; documents findings and care within established time frames; assists patients with calling transportation as needed; monitors overall appearance of lobbies and entrances; assists and directs patients regarding registration and hospital procedures.
  • Communicates professionally and appropriately with staff, patients, and visitors; maintains accurate employee records; demonstrates teamwork; serves as primary resource for patients and guests by greeting, instructing, and directing them promptly, courteously, and helpfully; acts as liaison between patients, staff, and other departments; remains proactive and solution‑focused; sets example of customer service for all employees; provides wheelchair assistance as needed; responds to inquiries and directs parties to appropriate authority.
  • Responds to emergencies outside normal working hours (e.g., internal and external disasters); may work rotating shifts and is required to work weekend and holiday shifts as scheduled or assigned.

  • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
  • Attends all mandatory education and in‑services (team training, safety, infection control, etc.) and completes mandatory health requirements.
  • Performs within the hospital’s and department’s Ethics and Compliance program and reports compliance variances to the immediate supervisor or higher authority, including the Compliance Officer or hospital hotline.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Requirements
  • Completion of high school education supplemented with coursework or experience that evidences basic knowledge of patient care techniques (e.g., currently enrolled in nursing or other related medical field and/or proven competency based qualifications of Patient Care Technician II).
  • Strong clinical knowledge of OR environment.
  • Surgical Technician or OB Technician experience preferred;
    Medical Assistant and STNA experience may be considered.
  • Obtain American Heart Association BLS certification within 30 days of hire and maintain continuous certification; obtain Behavioral Health & De‑Escalation training (BHDT) within six (6) months of employment and maintain annual certification. Surgical Technologist certification is preferred.
