Registered Nurse; RN General, Dialysis, Mental Health

Must have experience as a psychiatric nurse.

Candidate must be available for 1st shift.

Availability is required any day of the week, including weekends and holidays.

Flexibility is essential as shifts and days may change based on facility needs.

Computer literacy is required.

This position involves extensive walking.

• Provide professional nursing care to students hospitalized in student health services, or to inmates, juvenile offenders, or consumers housed in state-operated facilities or institutions, as well as staff.
• Observe, assess, and document symptoms, reactions, and progress of patients in the infirmary or clinic out-patients.
• Conduct nursing rounds, take and record vital signs, prepare and administer prescribed medications, treatments, and immunizations.
• Monitor restrained patients regularly (e.g., every 15 minutes) and provide immediate medical attention during emergencies, including administering first aid, arranging hospital transportation, and contacting physicians as necessary.
• If assigned, schedule, assign, and review work of lower-level staff such as RNs and LPNs; this may include approving or disapproving leave requests and completing performance evaluations, though these tasks are not mandatory.
• Participate in staff development and education, review care plans written by staff, and train and orient new employees.

OR

• In a corrections medical center, manage all health care for 20-60 bedridden inmates, including making rounds, evaluating care needs, developing care plans, teaching health care principles, administering medications including narcotics, and providing direct nursing care as needed.
• Perform specialized procedures such as IV therapy, chemotherapy, wound care, oxygen therapy, dialysis, blood transfusions, intubation, CPR, tube feeding, catheterization, suctioning, and phlebotomy.
• Organize and oversee the 'code blue' team and direct health care staff such as hospital aides and licensed practical nurses assigned to the area.
• Act as lead worker in charge of one assigned shift in the absence of a nurse 2 employee.
• Assist physicians in conducting diagnostic health evaluations for students.

• Chart and record all medications, treatments, and relevant medical information.
• Complete required reports such as incident and accident reports.
• Document Medicaid information.
• Order supplies and equipment, maintaining an accurate inventory of all controlled drugs, medications, and equipment.
• Arrange outpatient clinic appointments and medical examinations by school physicians.
• Coordinate new and refilled prescriptions ordered by physicians through local pharmacies.
• Perform administrative tasks and serve as a liaison within the organization.
• Conduct or attend meetings and occasionally serve as an instructor.
• Participate as a member or leader of problem-solving teams or groups.

• Knowledge of professional registered nursing procedures and relevant state and federal regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Understanding of public relations, employee training, development, and inventory control.
• Skill in operating medical equipment such as stethoscopes, otoscopes, blood pressure cuffs, and EKG machines.
• Ability to handle mostly concrete variables with some abstract elements.
• Capability to write meaningful, concise, and accurate reports.
• Competence in gathering, collating, and classifying information about data, people, or things.
• Demonstrated physical fitness.
