Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required

Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
Ability to interpret classroom instruction and conversations accurately between spoken English and ASLStrong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional ethics in a school setting

Role Overview :

As a Special Education Paraprofessional and ASL Interpreter, you will play a vital role in supporting students with diverse learning and communication needs within the school setting. Working collaboratively with teachers, related service providers, and school staff, you will help create an inclusive educational environment that promotes academic success, social development, and student independence.

This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young learners while working in a supportive school community.

Setting:
High School Student 1:1

In-person only

Key Responsibilities:

Provide direct 1:1 support to a high school student throughout the school day.

Assist the student in accessing classroom instruction and completing academic tasks.

Facilitate communication and educational access through American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation, when applicable.

Support implementation of the student's Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and accommodations.

Encourage independence, self-advocacy, and participation in academic and social settings.

Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and participation as directed by school staff.

Collaborate with teachers, special education teams, and related service providers to support student success.

Assist with transitions between classes, school activities, and other educational environments as needed.

Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
