Assistant Manager

Position Overview

Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill + Bar is looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Manager to oversee all aspects of day‑to‑day operations. The ideal candidate will lead the team, solve problems, handle stress, and ensure guests and staff experience a memorable visit every day.

• Ensure timely, friendly service according to company guidelines and achieve established unit objectives.
• Cultivate a culture in line with Flynn Applebee’s core values.
• Respond promptly to verbal guest complaints and correct issues for the team.
• Prioritize guest interaction by completing required table visits per standard.
• Maintain departmental inventory levels.
• Perform line checks to ensure product preparation and presentation meet company standards.
• Effectively schedule employees to meet sales demands.
• Maintain safety and security programs.
• Promote cleanliness and sanitation throughout the restaurant.
• Perform routine maintenance and report needed repairs to the General Manager/Area Director.
• Recruit and refer qualified potential team members and management candidates.
• Promote Flynn | Applebee’s training procedures for new managers.
• Support staff training through orientation, one‑on‑one sessions, meetings, and policy implementation.
• Facilitate employee development using performance documentation and written evaluations.
• Provide constructive feedback and work with employees on development areas.
• Document situations requiring disciplinary or corrective action.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Control costs in the assigned department.
• Comply with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
• Perform bi‑weekly/weekly food and liquor inventories as requested and report completion.
• Prepare and submit accurate daily paperwork.
• Meet or exceed health department and Flynn Applebee’s sanitation standards.
• Serve as a role model for managers and employees.
• Develop proficiency with all store‑related technology.
• Be willing and able to work in all positions, including cooking line, expo, seating guests, bartending, etc.
• Utilize the Management Development Program for continuous leadership growth.

• At least 2–3 years of restaurant management experience.
• Serve Safe Food and Serve Safe Alcohol certifications are a plus.

Assistant Managers earn $17.48 to $25 per hour, approximately $50,000 to $71,500 annually based on a 50‑hour work week. Potential monthly bonus is available where applicable. • Work various shifts, including weekends.
• Stand and move well‑paced for up to ten hours.
• Safely lift pots, pans, glassware, and boxes up to 50 pounds.
• Read and write to facilitate communication. Require finger and hand dexterity for small tools and equipment.
