Overview
Engineer II – SWI-7445 | Maryville, Tennessee, United States
Location:
Onsite/non-remote in Maryville, TN. Full-time, 1st shift: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm (Mon-Fri).
- Develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards.
- Recommend and implement improvements to production processes, methods and controls.
- Coordinate manufacturing launch for new or revised products.
- Priorities include process improvement, problem resolution, project management and employee training.
- Create/Modify Master
CAM manufacturing solid models to define the process as needed. - Perform research, design and development of process parameters, including material flow, venting, and cooling paths in injection molding dies.
- Understand and interpret complex part drawings and design intent; apply ASME Y14.5 2009 tolerancing impact as needed.
- Coordinate manufacturing launch of new/revised products, including goals, training, and evaluation of results.
- Define, document and implement tools, gauges, fixtures, equipment, routings and CMM/CNC/EDM programs.
- Design, develop, test or source tools, machinery and equipment for manufacturing methods of equipment and molds.
- Analyze product/process data to identify cost reductions, quality improvements and efficiency gains.
- Maintain accuracy of the S&W manufacturing routing database (operation sequence, descriptions, labor hours, setup/changeover times, machine cycle times) and applicable work instructions.
- Collaborate with Product Engineering, Marketing, Production, Quality, Purchasing, Accounting and other groups while maintaining project focus.
- Review and validate mold designs with suppliers during initial mold validation and coordinate repairs/design changes of injection molds.
- Bachelor's degree (BSME) or equivalent required.
- 5+ years of manufacturing experience (preferably in firearms industry).
- Strong understanding of lean principles.
- Proficiency in drawing interpretation and GD&T.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and objectives; strong problem-solving and analytical skills with effective interpersonal abilities.
- Team player with the ability to work with minimal supervision and to prioritize to meet scheduled deadlines.
- Reading, writing and interpretation of the English language; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
- Solid Works and/or CAM knowledge a plus; CMM programming & PC-DMIS a plus.
- Experience creating custom applications and GUI development with Microsoft Visual Studio.
- Experience with stored procedures and database design in Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience with basic webpage scripting.

Note:

- Office and manufacturing environment; sit or stand at a computer keyboard for extended periods; lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally.
Work may involve exposure to manufacturing noise, chemicals, dust, heat, and moving machinery. PPE required includes safety glasses with side shields and hearing protection on the manufacturing floor. Additional PPE may be required depending on tasks.
