Fabrication Shop Laborer

Aethon Metal Fabrication in Maryville, TN is hiring a Fabrication Shop Laborer. This is an entry-level role supporting our welders, fitters and fabricators, with a real path to learn cutting, grinding, fitting and welding.

Schedule:

Monday-Thursday, 6:00 a.m.

-4:30 p.m. (four 10-hour days, a 3-day weekend every week). Overtime as needed.

• Load, unload, stage and move steel plate, beams, tube, pipe and finished parts
• Cut material to length using band saws, cold saws, chop saws or shears
• Grind, deburr, sand and clean welds and cut edges
• Prepare parts for welding and painting
• Help fitters and welders position, clamp and hold parts
• Read tape measures, cut lists and simple shop drawings
• Drill, punch or tap holes using drill presses and magnetic drills
• Prepare finished work for shipping
• Keep the shop clean, safe and organized

We provide on-the-job training. Safety comes before production in every task. All employees attend safety training, use guards and PPE every time, report hazards and injuries right away, and stop to ask when unsure how to do something safely.
