Unit Clerk – Part Time – Days
Regional Health Services of Howard County seeks a Unit Clerk to perform receptionist and secretarial duties on the clinical unit and serve as a communication liaison.
Position PurposeThe Unit Clerk performs receptionist and secretarial duties on the clinical unit. Serves as a communication liaison on the clinical unit.
What You Will Do- Assure the medical record is adequately supplied and in proper order. Ensure workstation equipment is functioning appropriately and office supplies are adequate (not excessive). Maintain an updated working knowledge of new equipment and technology.
- Transcribe and/or enter written physician orders, complete necessary forms, requisitions, and communication of all orders approved/reviewed by RN. Place and maintain manual orders and print appropriate downtime forms as needed.
- Maintain record (inventory) of computers and other equipment for all devices assigned to department/unit. Troubleshoot low‑level computer/equipment issues and perform routine maintenance.
- Communicate with internal/external customers/colleagues in a courteous, positive, empathic, and professional manner. Attend and participate in departmental/organizational meetings and educational opportunities as required.
- Serve as a steward for the hospital’s human and material resources. Meet productivity expectations of unit/department as defined by unit manager. Utilize and maintain appropriate supplies in department. Support staffing needs for patient care in multiple units, as needed, while being flexible with schedule and hours.
12‑hour day position working 2 days/week. Every 3rd weekend and every other holiday.
Minimum Qualifications- Education:
High school graduate, GED, or equivalent. - Experience:
Basic computer experience required. Experience in a clerical role preferred. - Special Skills and
Competencies:
Ability to work on multiple projects at one time and flexibility to meet department needs; self‑motivated and detail‑oriented; completes mandatory courses (Child and Dependent Adult Abuse reporting).
