Job Description

As an EMI/EMC Engineer – Integrated Mission Systems, you will collaborate with other EMI/EMC engineers to support Space and Sensors at our Mason, OH division. Your duties will include developing test plans and procedures, performing circuit analysis for electromagnetic effects, and evaluating data results (including electrostatic discharge, corona, grounding, isolation, bonding, and harness/wiring).

In this role, you will integrate with cross‑functional teams, provide real‑time data analysis, and support system engineering to implement EMI/EMC control strategies to ensure the integrity and performance of our Space and Sensor hardware.

Your responsibilities will also include driving strategic initiatives, mentoring engineers, assigning daily tasks, and providing technical leadership to ensure compliance with rigorous industry standards. Your expertise will be crucial in shaping the future of our products, ensuring they meet and exceed performance expectations in demanding environments.

While working in a laboratory environment, you will be required to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols established by the test facility.

Essential Functions
  • Understanding the five key areas that comprise most electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) problems: radiated emissions, electrostatic discharge (ESD), susceptibility to RF fields, power disturbances, and internal crosstalk
  • Sound knowledge of and experience in EMI/EMC compliance design and testing per MIL‑STD‑461 and DO‑160 standards for Radiated and conducted emissions and susceptibility of system‑level and sub‑system (box‑level) electrical/electronic
  • Basic understanding of RF design, circuit theory, and/or electromagnetic theory and principles e.g. (component and cable shielding, filters, magnetics, microwaves and antennas)
  • Basic understanding of electrical or electronic system test hardware such as oscilloscopes, multi‑meters, logic analyzers, function generators, electronic load banks, power supplies, power analyzers, network components etc.
  • Experience in EMI test setups, including the required support equipment, with knowledge of chamber test antennas, test electronic equipment, and bonding/grounding setups
  • General knowledge of and basic hands‑on experience with all associated EMI/EMC laboratory test equipment, including spectrum analyzers, radio frequency (RF) amplifiers, signal generators, EMI receivers, antennas, directional couplers, and power meters
  • Experience with RF and communication systems, high power AC or DC power networks, electronics or PCB design or construction
  • Experience with filtering, bonding, grounding, and shielding methods for EMI/EMC performance and compliance
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred) from an ABET‑accredited university program.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant hands‑on experience in EMI/EMC engineering (preferred).
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • Existing DoD Secret clearance or the ability to obtain a clearance.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to frequently move test equipment weighing up to 32 pounds to test benches or to carts for transport to other areas of the facility. Occasionally lift equipment…
