Machine Operator I - Night Shift (D)

Location:
Mason, Ohio. Shift schedule:
Night Shift (6:45 pm–7:00 am) on a 2/2/3 cycle, 12‑hour shifts.
Graham Packaging is seeking a Machine Operator I to operate plastic blow molding machines and related equipment. The role focuses on ensuring safe, efficient, and high‑quality production of containers, performing adjustments, minor repairs, and participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities- Operate plastic blow molding machines and auxiliary equipment, maintaining safety, health, and quality standards.
- Make necessary adjustments or minor repairs to keep production running safely and efficiently.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement projects and other related activities as assigned.
- Assist with mold, insert, and color changes on the line.
- Improve machine efficiency and reduce scrap through basic processing of injection and blow molding machines.
- Perform utilities work during slow periods or as needed.
- Monitor resin, dryer, material handling, and color systems for proper processing conditions.
- Conduct on‑time quality checks against established standards.
- Support mechanical repairs in collaboration with operators and maintenance personnel.
- Carry out assigned preventative maintenance work.
- Maintain work area to acceptable safety and housekeeping standards.
- Complete and file all required documentation promptly.
- Coordinate with the Production Shift Supervisor to align line support staff with production objectives.
- Verify material usage per standards.
- Perform minor troubleshooting and programming; report major problems to leads and supervisors.
- Minimize generation and maximize consumption of regrind, purge, and scrap within customer specifications.
- Identify regrind and chunk produced.
- Communicate processing information to incoming shift personnel.
- Assist in training new operators.
- Limited travel may be required.
- Maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance.
- Computer usage and typing skills are essential.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including effective interaction with internal and external customers.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, maintain a positive attitude, and provide exemplary customer service.
- Work independently and complete assignments within prescribed routines and standard practices.
- Effectively convey facts and information clearly, both verbally and orally.
- Collaborate well with others, proactively contributing to group objectives and volunteering to help others.
