Child Care Teacher Assistant – Part Time

Old Colony YMCA is seeking a Child Care Teacher Assistant to work under the supervision of the Child Care Teacher. The assistant will help supervise the program and ensure a safe, healthy, and constructive environment for all children involved.

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Child Care Teacher the Child Care Teacher Assistant will assist in supervising the program and ensuring a safe, healthy, and constructive environment for all children involved in the program. In addition, the Child Care Teacher Assistant will ensure that all areas of responsibilities of the job reflect the mission beliefs of the Old Colony Y. He/she will uphold the employee code of conduct and will ensure that all areas of the job responsibilities reflect the mission of the Old Colony Y, and the regulating agency.

The Child Care Teacher Assistant will display and encourage the character traits of caring, responsibility, honesty and respect in the fulfillment of all job duties.

Program Responsibilities
  • Understand and ensure EEC regulations as well as Old Colony Y policies (Child and Youth Care policy, Child Guidance Policy, Health Care Policy) are maintained at all times.
  • Assist with implementing the program curriculum in accordance with EEC regulations, NAEYC standards and Old Colony YMCA’S policies.
  • Assist with daily activities as well as classroom arrangement, appearance and overall learning environment.
  • Maintain proper behavior of children at all times with strict adherence to both the YMCA Child Guidance Policy, and the Child Care Policy.
  • Assist with Fun/Food Curriculum, menu planning and guidelines meet HEPA standards.
  • Understands and maintains QRIS standards.
  • Act in a public relations capacity when communicating with parents, school personnel and potential clients.
  • Act as a positive role model.
  • Maintain attendance records and all necessary reports.
  • Attend mandatory training sessions and all child care meetings.
  • Meet with child care teacher as directed.
  • Establish and maintain working relationship with school or other site‑specific personnel.
Fiscal Responsibilities
  • Help ensure maximum enrollment is achieved.
  • Assist with the Annual Campaign and other fund‑raising events.
  • Adhere to all fiscal policies and procedures, such as purchase orders and employee expense.
Facility / Housekeeping Responsibilities
  • Ensure a clean, organized, and safe program space.
  • Communicate to appropriate staff facility issues which need to be addressed in a timely manner.
Interdivisional and Community Responsibility
  • Actively participate on assigned committees and with the Y’s Annual Campaign.
  • Promote Y programs through public appearances and presentations.
  • Attend at least 20 hours of childcare training annually.
