DescriptionWilliams College, Williamstown MA 01267. The Department of Asian Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at Williams College invites applications for a three-year visiting appointment in Japanese, to start July 1, 2026. We aim to appoint a Visiting Assistant Professor who will be responsible for teaching four courses over two semesters and meaningful participation in the Winter Study curriculum during January. We seek a candidate who can teach all levels of Japanese language courses in close coordination with departmental colleagues.
The candidate's expected specialization can include linguistics, second language acquisition, cultural studies, literature, or any related field.

QualificationsCandidates should have a Ph.D., or all requirements for the Ph.D. degree, by July 1, 2026. The ideal candidate will have native or near-native fluency in Japanese, the ability to teach at all levels in our language program, and strong experience teaching at the college level in North America.
