Role DescriptionThe Early Childhood Teacher is a full-time, on-site role located in Cotuit, MA (and 5 other locations across Cape Cod). This role is responsible for planning and implementing developmentally appropriate learning activities for young children in accordance with program goals and state regulations. Daily tasks include creating a safe and supportive classroom environment, guiding children through play-based and structured learning experiences, and monitoring each child’s physical, emotional, and social development.
The teacher collaborates with colleagues and families, maintains accurate documentation, and participates in staff meetings and professional development. The role also involves fostering positive relationships with children and caregivers, promoting the YMCA’s values, and supporting program initiatives.
- Strong foundation in Early Childhood Education and Child Development, with the ability to apply developmentally appropriate practices in the classroom.
- Proficiency in Teaching and Working with Children, including classroom management, individualized support, and positive behavior guidance.
- Experience with Curriculum Development for early learners, including planning, implementing, and assessing educational activities.
- Ability to communicate clearly with children, families, and colleagues, and to work collaboratively as part of a teaching team.
- Relevant credentials or coursework in early childhood education; state-specific teaching certifications or licenses are required.
- CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe.
