Mechanical Estimator

Director of Mechanical Construction

Responsibilities
  • The Mechanical Estimator will be responsible for providing detailed estimates based upon conceptual documents as well as schematic, design development and construction documents.
  • Develop and maintain strong owner and general contractor relationships with clients to ensure satisfaction and ongoing award of new projects.
  • Negotiate final pricing with clients and manage material/subcontractor buyouts with vendors.
  • Perform take-offs, pricing and produce the final estimate to be incorporated into the final work product.
  • Be knowledgeable in mechanical estimating across multiple areas including Sheet Metal, Piping Systems, Plumbing, Process Piping, ATC Systems and Process Instrumentation.
  • Navigate blueprints through all stages of design from DD to CD and produce relevant RFIs when required.
  • Interface with other estimating disciplines, project team members, subcontractors and management.
  • Lead Mechanical Estimating on projects ranging in size and contribute to GMP/CM proposals, budgets and negotiated work with limited oversight.
  • Collaborate with team to generate take-offs, conceptual estimates and detailed estimates.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in HVAC/Mechanical estimating or related installation/estimating roles.
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Technical/Design Education or equivalent estimating experience.
  • Field experience in Project Management or with subcontractors.
  • Experience developing and managing relationships with owners and general contractors.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent written and oral communication.
  • Working skills with MS Office including Excel or Google Drive; experience with Trimble is a plus.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a team environment.
Physical & Other Requirements
  • Ability to sit, answer phones, type, and work on computer for extended periods.
  • Standing, sitting, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting and walking for extended periods.
  • Willingness to continue to develop skills in the HVAC/R trade; strong teamwork and ability to work independently.
