Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Early-Career Water Resources Engineer based in our Hamilton or Acton, Massachusetts offices. The position will apply academic knowledge to real‑world situations while solving clients’ water quality challenges related to NPDES, TMDLs and CSOs as driven by CWA requirements, contaminated site assessment & remediation, groundwater management, water treatment, and environmental due diligence. It also offers experience in water quality and biota sampling, data analysis, reporting, and business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Perform surface water field investigations.
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic calculations and modeling.
- Maintain monitoring equipment.
- Manage, evaluate, and summarize monitoring data.
- Review state and federal regulations and permits pertaining to surface water.
- Conduct dry and wet weather sampling.
- Design stormwater best‑management practices.
- Prepare watershed‑based plans.
- Conduct construction quality assurance.
- Evaluate sediment, surface water, porewater, groundwater, and soil technologies and remedies; perform cost estimations, draft design calculations, and plan for remedy implementation.
- Analyze data, including reviewing historical documents and preparing maps, tables, and figures.
- Prepare technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals.
- Drive personal, company, or rental vehicle to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental or civil engineering, or a related field. (required)
- Advanced degree in the same field. (preferred but not essential)
- Registered Engineer‑in‑Training status, or ability to take exam within 6 months. (preferred but not essential)
- At least 2 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (preferred)
- Prior internship experience in environmental consulting. (preferred)
- Prior research experience in contaminated media or remediation technology. (preferred)
- Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic models (e.g., HEC‑RAS, EPA SWMM, Hydro
CAD). (preferred) - Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and/or AutoCAD. (preferred)
- Technical experience in engineering, geology, geotechnical, environmental, or related disciplines. (preferred)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. (required)
- Regular field work and overnight travel. (required)
- Ability to collect samples from potentially uneven terrain or from a boat. (required)
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
- Minimum salary: $70,625 per year. Maximum salary: $88,280 per year (Hamilton or Acton, MA).
